the bali beast

the design is inspired by a statue at the temple in bali. in the island you can see many hindu temples and statues made out of rock. this particular one is an angry lion or "bali beast".
the original image was a picture that I took on my last trip to the island.

the new york soul

this is not a picture, but since its my first basic t-shirt design and this is my blog, i thought its appropriate to post it here :)

inspired by "The New York Times" newspaper font, this design is the extension of my soul for new york. if you lived there in the past, present or have the passion to be there in the future, you'll appreciate this...

summer love

in this picture i try to capture a retro feeling of "relaxing at the beach" image. i was thinking this can be the cover for my lazy beats music compilation cd... :)
i experimented adjusting and editing the tone in raw image with photoshop.
the girl in the picture is poppy love, taken during my april vacation.

ex-models in action!

i guess once you did some modeling job, you can't really completely get away from it. this two ex-model, poppy love and amanda mandela, is the perfect example. no matter what, there will always be a photographer, like me and many others, who will try to steal some good candid shots. if you get lucky, they might pose for a second.

chillin at the dressing room

the best part about being a volunteer photo journalist is the privilege of unlimited access anywhere. i was hanging out in a dressing room with erie, photographer from d'click studio, at a photo hunting event. all i can say is... it was a lot of fun seeing girls matching their bikinis, if you know what i mean :P
i took this picture of erie as he smoothly checking out some ass.

love rain

the raindrops came unexpectedly last saturday, during a photography event in south jakarta. in a split second, everyone got wet. luckily it only lasted for 15 minutes, otherwise it wouldn't go along with the theme of the day, "pool party". the picture that i captured was the moment when poppy running away from the rain towards the pool house.

other parts of hong kong

first time in hong kong, i'm with my family and stuck to the tour program. it wasn't all that boring as i thought it would. i actually got to see other parts of hong kong, beside the shopping and office buildings. i capture a few images that doesn't relate to that city life. this picture was taken at ocean park.

take the Q train to brooklyn

is it me or is it this city that got me so stressed out? sometimes it got me thinking the "what ifs". what are the possibilities for me to go back to the place where i think i belong. is it this city or the city that i used to lived in?
i asked myself again, where do i want to be?
the simple question starts from, what do i really miss? living in the city where the sound of the police woke me up late in the middle of the night, neighbors bumping the bass that vibrated through my walls, house parties on my block, the screaming from domestic abuse or the fighting and gun shots from street violence.
who do i miss? the city where i can walked through the block and encountered with african americans ballin', puerto ricans listening to salsa on the house stairs, chinese running a corner take out restaurant where everyone ordered "chicken wings with fried rice", or all the artist and hipsters in the area walking around like they own the street.
do i miss my morning breakfast? a shop by the subway station where i could eat greasy cheese pizza by the slice or ordered a bagel with lox from bergen bagel, across from michael's pizza parlor on other days when i'm sick of pizza.
but mostly what do i really miss in the morning? the noise from the subway train while waiting for my ride to the city. sometimes i get lucky and caught up with my train right away or other times i just waited forever.
what about the smell? before i hoped in the subway, how refreshing was the smell of funky underground sewers, mixed with the over crowded people with different aroma perfumes.
i missed staring at these new yorkers, each with their own agenda and destinations. the dirt, the dirty and the dirtiest, all got together in a tube that rides along the rails through manhattan bridge.
but no matter how horrible this might sound to you, this is the city that i've grown to love, its the city with character that suits me. so... should i be back?

my favorite things

its december and i'm missing snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes. The last time i remembered snow was in new york, right before i flew back to jakarta. this picture was taken after a snow storm, back when i used to work on 14th street, union square station. that morning everyone took a day off while i wondered around empty streets taking pictures.

vanilla flavor

going over my pictures from a couple of months ago, i rediscover this shoot of anneu. i took it during a make up test for poppy's portfolio at d'click studio. i was there to drink some beer and hang. this picture was a bit under and not that focus, so i go on and edit it with vanilla b&w, and sharpen it a bit. can you taste the vanilla?

roxy girl

last day on my bali trip i decided to be a beach hunter, taking candid shoots of hot girls and surfers. i spotted this chick surfing and she really caught my attention. its not the body, its her skills that inspired me to took pictures of her ass... haha. she kinda reminds me of models in magazine for roxy ads.

bali high

i don't have the right equipment to take action shoots, but i got lucky. that afternoon in bali, the wave by the shore was high. about 100 meters away from where i stood, i took pictures of these surfers riding. though its not as clear as it should, at least i capture the moment.

sunset surfer

i'm sure everyone that came to bali took a sunset picture. this one is mine. after all day of walking up and down the shore, my friends and i hang out at a small shack around legian beach to eat. as the sun went down, there it was, a surfer dude call it a day. so i called a time out from evening pint of beer and took this shoot.

westside of downtown

the best part of working as an agent in the real estate is visiting cool apartments all around new york. i remember this one in particular, i was with my friend tracy and we went to this modern 80's design duplex with a private rooftop access. i think it cost somewhere around 7 grand a month to rent. that day we decided to take a time off from the office and chill up there to take pictures, of course it was my idea. this is greenwich village, view from a rooftop.

walk up to central park

i was organizing old files from the past and found some lost images from the good old days in new york. i regretted not taking as much pictures as i should, of the city, i guess that was the period where i took time off from personal photography. i was focusing more on taking pictures for work. to make up for the missing images that should have been captured, i decided to start editing some of the ones that i've had. i will be posting them in this blog, under "remenicing" label.

while working in the real estate, one of my job duty was surveying apartments. i remember i took this pictures after i visited a unit on upper east side. since my office is all the way downtown, in soho, i decided to take a walk through the park. because i lived in brooklyn, i usually dont go up this far, so i rarely came to this neighborhood. the pictures on this post is the view from bow bridge and central park lake.

beverage of choice

bir bintang is a classic indonesian beer. its a pilsner, skunky, kinda like a light heikenen. every time i went to a photo session, this seems to be the beverage of choice. and it cost $1, ice cold.

first draft pick

its my first hunting session. i took some blur and shitty shots, but finally got one. this picture of yuni was taken at an abandoned electric power plant in tanah abang.
